What is A Cochlear Implant?
Cochlear implant is a hearing aid that must be implanted into the hearing organ of the inner ear (cochlea). The implantation process has to go through surgery in the head to place electrodes in the inner ear and the receiver in the skull bone behind the ear.Actually cochlear implant has two parts, the internal parts and external parts.
- Internal parts: this part that must pass through the surgery to put the device into the cochlea. It consists of a receiver and electrode system.
- External parts: this part is placed in the outer ear such as wearing hearing aids. It consists of a transmitter, microphone, and processor that have to be connected to internal parts with a magnet.
